Booze News: Upcoming Soused Cinema on DVD
>> Tuesday, February 27, 2007
Start savin’ your shekels. There are some very interesting drunky DVDs due to be released during March and beyond. Here’s a quick look at what you’ll be buyin’ in the upcoming months:
March 13: Casino Royale (2006, DVD & Blu-ray) Daniel Craig is the best and the booziest of the Bonds.
March 20: The W.C. Fields Comedy Collection Volume 2: The Man on the Flying Trapeze / Never Give A Sucker An Even Break / You’re Telling Me! / The Old Fashioned Way / Poppy (1934-1941, DVD) If you only buy one DVD set this year, this better be it, Chester!
March 27: Children of Men (2006, DVD & HD-DVD) Although Clive Owen’s character likes to drink, I wouldn’t call Children of Men a booze movie. Still, it was the best damn film of the past year, so it’s worth a mention.
2007 (no firm date): Under the Volcano (1984, DVD) and Rio Bravo 2-Disc SE (1959, DVD)

When will Smokey IS the Bandit be coming to HiDefDVD?
Are you referring to the theatrical release of SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT 3 or the original version that they filmed with Gleason playing both parts. The original version can't be any worse than S&TB3.
By the way, the HD-DVD release of SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT provides a unique opportunity to see an ultra clear picture of Reynolds pre-facelift and Gleason post-facelift.
Gotta love Craig's "Do I look like I give a damn" line from Royale. Can't wait for that DVD.
I also love the choice of ending line for CASINO ROYALE. The way the writers played with the conventions of the franchise was a lot of fun throughout. This was definitely the BATMAN BEGINS of the Bonds, and on the basis of this one picture, Craig is my favorite 007 actor.
